This weekend there was a sort of surprise birthday get-together with a few of my nieces and nephews. Wonderful Ethiopian meal at my sister's, followed up by playing with the pet crab Formerly Known as Superman, and urging him to fling himself over the edge of the coffee table, which he repeatedly chickened out of. Then we consoled ourselves with drawing pictures of monsters.
The Crab Formerly Known as Superman
Picture by Joel, age six. I particularly appreciate the chicken feet.
Picture by yours truly, age 28 (as of today)
Picture by Kalia, age 8. Many of the creatures have suction-cups on their appendages and/or faces. Apparently some of the creatures even have suction-cup EYES, and they fling themselves against windows and their eyes stick. This suction-cup theme had me laughing to the point of tears. Kids are awesome.
Picture by Kaitlyn, age four. To me this looks very Irish, like a fairy ring.
Today it's off to have some grown-up fun in Winnipeg, and hopefully surviving the minus one zillion temperature and wind chill. Ah, the frozen north.

Happy Birthday. You share your birthday with our grandaugher Annabelle. You picked a very cold day to have a birthday.
I love the monsters! There is something about monster drawings that will always thrill me a little I think. Remind me sometime to show you the drawing I did when I visited Sarah's day care, because I have a feeling you will enjoy it. Also I like the ring of green people around the last picture.
Hey, if Julia likes the drawings, maybe there's some special talent that you and the kids have, lol.Of course, I LOVE the drawings AND your comments. BTW, no mention of your birthday dinner with your grandma and parents:(
