Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish

2012 at last! I haven't liked the looks of a year so much since 2008. I suppose I must appreciate numbers divisible by four.
The year of 2011 was nothing to sneeze at, not only on a personal level (worst and most difficult year of my life) but also on a global scale . . . so incredibly many natural disasters, stunning me and sending the world into mourning. It was also a trying year for many of my friends. I am heartily glad that it is over.
Therefore I've concluded that 2012 is to be a hallmark year. My shaky legs will once again grow firm. My brain will shoot sparks, but in a good way. I will gather my meagre bundle of courage and spread it like jam over all areas of life, including the crusts.
I will leave you now with a poem from Edgar Lee Masters' Spoon River Anthology:

To all in the village I seemed, no doubt,
To go this way and that way, aimlessly.
But here by the river you can see at twilight
The soft-winged bats fly zig-zag here and there-
They must fly so to catch their food.
And if you have ever lost your way at night,
In the deep wood near Miller's Ford,
And dodged this way and now that,
Wherever the light of the Milky Way shone through,
Trying to find the path,
You should understand I sought the way
With earnest zeal, and all my wanderings
Were wanderings in the quest.

I am hopeful that 2012 has more to celebrate for you than 2011.
So far it's started off well!
